We had the BCM in our S-Max replaced a few weeks ago by the local Ford dealer. It was around £1050 and then a £150'ish for a new battery as the old one wouldn't hold a charge anymore after being completely drained by the headlights being on permanently (that's how we noticed there was a problem!).
Press and hold the window switch in the closed or up position. It is very important to keep the button depressed, and make sure that you are pushing the side that closes the window. With the window button depressed, open and then slam the car door. If it doesn't work the first time, you can try it a few more times.
